Iraqi soldiers guard the site (Article) after a car bomb was detonated in the center of Baghdad, Iraq, Monday Dec. 26, 2005. Insurgents killed at least 10 people in attacks around Iraq on Monday, including five police officers killed at a checkpoint. Attackers exploded five car bombs around Baghdad but caused few casualties.

  UK  - There will be no public inquiry into the 7 July London bombings which killed 52 people, the Home Office has said.  Home Secretary Charles Clarke is likely to reject calls for a public inquiry into the July 7 attacks in London, the BBC has learned.  BBC News Does its job and asks the real, tough questions.

It is believed he will publish a 'narrative of events' about the attacks instead. Margaret Gilmore reports.  12/14/05


Bush gives speech today admitting Responsibility for Iraq invasion.  (Article)

Also, he directed federal agencies to be more efficient in dealing with requests for government information, but he left in place a four-year-old policy that restricts access under the Freedom of Information Act.  The directive does not address a complaint of news organizations and other advocates of open government that too much information is withheld from the public.

And some very good,  important news.  A panda breeding center in South West China is experiencing a breeding boom.  Giant Pandas are an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and by a very low birthrate, both in the wild and in captivity.
